I chose to read "Quiet" by Susan Cain. In "Quiet", Cain argues that we dramatically undervalue introverts and shows how much we lose in doing so. Cain herself is an introvert, yet she attended two prestigious schools, Harvard and Princeton. In her bio on her website she stated, "I prefer listening to talking, reading to socializing, and cozy chats to group settings. I like to think before I speak (softly). " These are all qualities that apply to introverts that make up one-third of our population today. I chose to read "Quiet" because I am an introvert. I wanted to read what another introvert had to say on introverts and their function in today's society.

I selected the book "A Mighty Long Way" by Carlotta Walls Lanier. I chose this book because in my social studies class we learned bits and pieces of the Little Rock Nine kids of Central High School, and I wanted to understand the struggle of going to a school that was naturally segregated. Also I feel that it would be cool to read a book from the person that was part of the Little Rock Nine. Carlotta Walls Lanier has the qualifications because she lived through the event and endured the blood, sweat, and tears.

I chose to read "The Day After He Left for Iraq" by Melissa Seligman. I chose this book because after reading the summary inside the front cover, I became very interested. Also, I've always had a personal interest in army families and how army wives cope with their husbands leaving them and their children all alone. Melissa has the qualifications because this book is about her life and how she dealt with her husband leaving her and her children for the military.

I'm currently reading "David and Goliath" by Malcolm Gladwell. When I saw the title of the book, I knew I had to read it. Throughout my childhood I was faced with 'giants'. I have O.C.D. and when I was younger, it got the best of me. My uncle use to come over my house and try to detract me by playing board games, watching movies, etc.. One day he gave me a CD and told me to listen to the fourth song, "Voice of Truth" by Casting Crowns. The song tells the story of David and Goliath and how we all have to face our own 'giants' or struggles in our life, but with faith, anything is possible. The song became a part of who I am today. I am hoping that Gladwell's research on other people's struggles will help me realize that I am not alone in this world and giants are meant to bring us down in order to turn to God to bring us back up. I consider Gladwell as a qualified writer considering he went through earth shaking struggles and he took the time to listen to the stories of other people across the world, keeping his Christian faith in mind.

I chose to read the book "Look Me in the Eye: My Life with Aspergers". I chose this book because it involves the journey of one with a disability. I have always known I wanted to go into education and through studying special education this year I have decided to major in it. This book will hopefully give me insight as to how a child with disabilities feels. The author, John Elder Robison, wrote this as an autobiography of his own childhood experiences.

I chose to read "Lance Armstrong It's Not About the Bike My Journey Back to Life" by Lance Armstrong and Sally Jenkins. My mom introduced me to the book, knowing I don't enjoy reading all too much she told me to just read the first few pages and see how I liked it. After trying to get my way out of reading it I began to read the first page and became very interested into it and it became addictive. He presents the book in his perspective and very straight forward not leaving any room for readers to feel sorry for him. He gets straight to the point about his journey with cancer and how being a top athlete on top of being sick did not mix well at all. I like how he tells the readers how he found out and what was going through his head at the time. His qualifications in order to write an inspirational book was his journey dealing with chemo and cancer and being able to race and be almost back to normal again.

I chose the book "Columbine". It seemed really interesting, mainly in the aspect of the psychological reasoning behind why Eric and Dylan killed their classmates and teachers. I had heard of the Columbine shootings and wanted to understand more about it. The author, David Cullen, had worked on the book for nearly 10 years. He met with survivors in order to have a better understanding of what really happened in the school. Overall, I hoping to have a better understanding of what happened at Columbine, as well as get an answer of what was going on in the minds of Eric and Dylan.

I decided to read the book "Night". What really persuaded me to read this book was my interest in the Holocaust. I find it very interesting that when reading the book i'm getting first hand experiences and stories from someone who had actually suffered from the Holocaust! The author wrote this book so others can really understand how terrible things were in Germany during this era. People take things they have for granted and I feel this book can give a good outlook on life knowing that when things are bad they could always be worse.

I chose the book "Heaven Is For Real" by Todd Burpo. I chose this book because I saw the movie trailer and I wanted to read the book before I saw the movie. The book is about a child who died, was revived, and claims to have been to heaven. The movie trailer almost made me cry so I figured it would be a pretty good book. The author, Todd Burpo, is the father of the child and also a pastor in their small town. He writes about the experience of his family and the child who went to heaven.

I am reading 'Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage'. I chose this book because I believed that it would be interesting. I had heard several stories about this journey, and was interested in learning about it. I actually took this class because I believe that we would be reading it. The author, Alfred Lansing, became an expert on this tale when he interviewed the survivors and read their well kept journals. He uses the accounts of the different members to retell this extraordinary tale.

I chose to read 'Wiseguy' by Nicholas Pileggi. I chose to read this because the movie that is based off this book is one of my favorite movies. This book offers a more in-depth look at Henry Hill's life in the mafia from a young kid until he left for the Witness Protection Program. Pileggi has the qualifications for this book because he has always had a profound interest in the mafia. He also adds many first-hand stories from the main character, Henry Hill

I chose to read "Lone Survivor" by Marcus Luttrell with Patrick Robertson because I saw the movie which was made about Marcus and his team. I became pretty much obsessed with Marcus' story and now that I have to chance to read his book I'm taking full advantage of it. The book offers insight on Marcus' family, his childhood, stories from his young adulthood, and teenage years, and his training and his motivation for becoming a Navy SEAL. He experienced this tragic event first hand and lived to tell about it.

I chose to read " Outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell because it is a book that focuses on the intelligence and ambition of successful people. Gladwell analyzes how and why certain people are successful. Previously, Gladwell has written other books that describe the powers of thinking and life's bizarre occurrences that change the way people think. Therefore, he is extremely qualifying in both analyzing and discussing these outside of the box ideas. I really enjoy how Gladwell has the ability to challenge the readers thought process and beliefs.

I chose the book "A Mighty Long Way" by Carlotta walls LaNier. This book is about her experience as a member of the famous Little Rock Nine, the first group of African American students to enroll at an entirely white school. I chose this book because I really enjoyed reading the book "Fire from the Rock" by Sharon Draper, which is also about one of the nine students. Carlotta Walls is a primary source for the events surrounding the integration program so she is an extremely credible author.

I'm reading Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell, it's about understanding successful people and their situations rather than focusing on intelligence and ambition. Gladwell has writen several other books that change the view people have on things, such as The Tipping Point, and Blink giving him experience and practice in this field of writing.

I chose to read "The Blind Side" because I've heard it was a really good/relatively easy read, and I've watched the movie and it was great so I figured, why not read the book? Michael Lewis has written a great many other non-fiction books and as such he is experience with gathering the information needed and has the ability to put it together into a good book.

I chose this book due to its strong ties to the mafia of New York City, and the power of the community it represents, The author being an actual member of their mafia community has more than enough qualification to write this story, this book is a very strong explicit book that just grips you into reading more and more
