I really enjoyed reading The Glass Castle. I'm such a fan of childhood stories so reading an entire book full of them was just what I liked. Walls' experiences were interesting and also entertaining to follow. I found the book moving, because I had never heard of such crazy, sad memories before. Her life was definitely book-worthy. I would definitely recommend the book to anyone. It was a book that anybody could like, it wasn't focused to any certain group of people. I preferred this book to my first pick, because it was a book I could see myself reading outside of school. I really liked the overall story.

My overall response to this book is shocking. I never would have thought that life could be so brutal living as a foster child or homeless. It amazed me how abusive Regina's mother was towards her and her siblings and made me think how thankful i am to live the life i do, unlike hundreds of homeless children who's parents could care less about them. It was also interesting that despite all the hardship Regina and her siblings faced throughout their childhood, they still managed to beat the odds and turned out to be normal working american citizens who beat the odds of being homeless like they were as children. They chose to not take the path they grew up in, which amazed me due to the fact of how hard it was to over come and how much they had to sacrifice to give themselves a better life than before. I would recommend this book to others because it tells a great story of having nothing as a child but was still able to be successful in life even though they started out with nothing. This book shows how sticking together with family and never giving up on each other can result in a better life than once lived. This book also shows the awful conditions foster children live through and gives a real life situation that probably happens to foster/homeless kids everyday. I preferred this book over the glass castle, my first choice, because i felt like this book gave more detail and kept me interested throughout whole thing.

Overall I thought my book Into The Wild was ok only because I would of liked it better if it had more action and suspense. I didn't like how much it switch from other peoples personal experiences to the authors experiences/explanation to Chris McCandless personal experiences he faced. I found it confusing and hard to follow at times, But i would recommend this book to others because overall it was good but for my taste I thought it was ok. I prefer my first choice Scratch Beginnings because it was an overall more interesting story, it had more action to it, you felt like you were right with Adam Shepard through his journey. I understood his personal connections and responses, and felt I could connect with the book more.

Overall my response to the my book was entertaining and kind of moving, as I saw just how much a town or city can rally around one team. I found Friday Night Lights entertaining because it showed each of the players on Permian's team and their stories, which gave the reader a better view on what high school football meant to the parents in Texas. I would recommend this book to sport readers because it has a story that most athletes can relate to, being playing for others like your family or city. I preferred Blind Side because it was about how a person overcame his struggles and made his dream a reality, and that really was a good type of book to read.

Full Frontal Feminism is one of my new top favorites for books. It was never dull, and had great points through out the entirety of the book. I would recommend it to any woman to read to show why feminism is important today. The book is easy to read and not at all lecture-y. While both the Chariots of the Gods and Full Frontal Feminism are great books in their own respects, Full Frontal Feminism was much better in my opinion. Compared the the completely theoretical and scientific Chariots of the Gods, the upbeat and layed back tone was a complete relief. If you are a female who doesn't identify as a feminist, I recommend it highly.

I really enjoyed The Devil in the White City. This book proves that sometimes nonfiction can be more intriguing, shocking, disturbing and riveting than fiction. It was packed cover to cover with history and lots of interesting facts about Chicago, architecture and the Gilded Age in America. To think I had little to no knowledge of the World's Fair before this book is so sad after reading about the work that went into it and how important it was to American pride at the time. It seems to be one of those historical happenings that gets brushed under the rug and forgotten which I think is a shame. I would recommend the book to anyone who is interested in American history, and doesn't mind reading chapter after chapter packed with quotes, figures, and detailed pieces of information. I imagine for some it can be quite dry because of the attention to detail the author has but for those who can see the images in their head and appreciate the facts will really enjoy it. I preferred this book to my earlier choice The Outliers because this one was more story-like and much more interesting to read. It was also over a topic I much enjoyed, Chicago, The World's Fair and the scandal that revolved around the fair.

Freakonomics intrigued me a lot, the statistics that the authors use and the correlations between variables surprised me. Who knew that abortion is one of the main reasons for decreasing crime rates and higher test scores? Who knew that professional sumo wrestlers cheat? I do wish that the separate chapters flowed together more. It felt like I was reading several studies put together rather than a cohesive novel. It is an interesting read for anyone who is an economist or interested in learning about the deep motives that drives people. Even with the laid-back and informal tone of Freakonomics, Columbine left a greater impression on me. Both are well researched and phenomenal books on looking at the deep motives and circumstances that cause people to do the extreme, but Columbine's central story helps it put emotion into its character. Columbine also appeals to a wider audience than Freakonomics, I lost the authors of Freakonomics several times because of their statistics and economist terms. In all, I'd recommend both, but Columbine is a far superior novel.

I really enjoyed reading Orange is the New Black. I felt the book was very interesting. This book went into great detail about not only her personal experience but also the harsh reality of female prison. I would strongly recommend this book because I never lost interest while reading. This book starts off with a dramatic open and I was never let down throughout. I prefered this book over my earlier choice The Happiness Project because this book held my attention and I just wanted to keep reading.

I truly enjoyed the novel In Cold Blood, Truman Capote does a well job of creating an in depth story of the family as well as the murderers. I found this book to be interesting because it was in a small town with a well known family that contributes to the community often and they were killed for no apparent reason. It was also interesting to hear what happened to the murderers when they were finally caught and convicted of their crimes. I would recommend this novel to someone who enjoys mysteries that are investigated over a long period of time. I think it is hard to decide between Columbine and In Cold Blood because I believe they both have the same general topic which is murder. If I had to pick I believe I would choose In Cold Blood because it was easier to read.

I liked reading Endurance for the most part. I found it interesting because of the adventurous story and all of the diaries that were kept each day by some of the crew members. I would recommend this book to others because it is a good read and has a great adventure story to it. I still think I liked my first book better only because Columbine had action to its story that kept you hooked on it. Nothing against Endurance, I just liked Columbine better.

Overall, I found Columbine to be a very interesting read. It provides a very complete look at the events of and leading up to the Columbine massacre. I would recommend it to others, with the warning that some of the accounts of the events, as well as the words of the killers themselves, may be a bit disturbing or hard to take in for some. I prefer this book over my first choice, Freakonomics, because Columbine is more of a story, and Freakonomics feels more like a report than a story in the way Columbine does.

At first when I started reading Blink, I though it would be boring, but after reading for a while ad getting into it I found it really interesting. I actually enjoyed this book a lot, and I hope to read some of Gladwell's other works. I would definitely recommend this book to others, especially those who like psychology. Blink went deep into topics that we normally wouldn't even think about, but it dissected the way we do everything, down to the subconscious level, which was really interesting. Compared to my first book choice, Scratch Beginnings, it would be hard to pick which one I like better. They are both awesome books, but in two totally different ways. Blink is interesting on the level of learning new things, while Scratch Beginnings was interesting in that it was suspenseful and you could feel a connection to the author. But out of the two, I think I would have to say I liked Scratch Beginnings a little bit better just because it was easier to get into.

I enjoyed a Patriot's calling because it talked about the importance of dedication and hard work and also emphasized that, if one is willing to work towards a goal, then he or she will be able to achieve whatever he or she sets their mind to. I've always wanted to be a fighter pilot in the air force so his stories and experiences in the air force really intrigued me. His experiences with Patriot Golf day and the Folds of Honor Foundation were inspiring and moving because he's able to help the families of deceased veterans and soldiers. I would recommend this book to others but only if they don't mind the author talking about God and religion because the author is pretty religious.

When I first started reading Scratch Beginnings, the book seemed to be moving very slowly. I was more than 50 pages in and Adam Shepard was only 10 or so days in to an one year journey. The book picked up speed and became quite inspirational. For a person to start out with practically nothing and end up with a full time job, car, apartment, furniture, and over $5,000 in savings is pretty remarkable. I would recommend this book to someone who need a boost of confidence, who feels like they are going to go nowhere in life because this book is the definition of achievement. I would have to say that O enjoyed this book more than my first book choice. Columbine was quite a heavy book. Scratch Beginnings wasn't what you would call light reading, but had an inspiring message.

I was shocked after reading A Mighty Long Way. I had learned a little about the first schools being segregated in history class but never imagined it to be the way described in the book. I found this book very interesting. I could never have guessed what was going to happen next to these unfortunate nine. They faced multiple offences daily and still came back to school the next day. Everything was usually blamed on them when they were the ones being tormented. I really liked that the book was written by one of the Little Rock Nine. I would highly recommend this book to others, especially people that are interested in history. It puts a realistic, close view of a common history subject. I prefer this book over the first one because of it's history aspect.

I enjoyed Tuesdays with Morrie, even though it was an extremely sentimental book, which I am not usually a fan of. I would recommend it anyone who enjoyed The Last Lecture, or to anyone who simply likes an emotional read. I would say I enjoyed my first read better which was Scratch Beginnings, but Tuesday with Morrie was still a good read.

I enjoyed reading The Zookeeper's Wife more than I expected. I knew about WWII from history classes and just from what I have been told but the author allows readers to view this war time through the eyes of someone who experienced it all. At first I thought it was just going to be all about the zoo but as the book continues I was completely fascinated how Jan and Antonina were extremely creative and strategical with every thing they did during the war. From sneaking people out of the ghettos to secretly collecting materials for bombs. The Zabinski family went through many challenges that I only had seen from the respects of history books. I would recommend this book to others who enjoy reading about history and take interests to another perspective of the war. I liked The Zookeeper's Wife better than my first book just because Columbine was a difficult read for myself. The beginning wasn't as bad but once it got too into detail of the whole event I honestly couldn't read it. Columbine was too heavy of a read. Although The Zookeepers Wife dealt with a difficult time in history as well, it was an easier read and made me view the war in a different perspective.

I read the book A Child Called It and I really loved it. I really think that the book over all was written very well. The author told the story in such a way where at parts of the book you just can feel this kids pain. The reader can feel all of the feelings that he goes through in his childhood just by the amazing imagery and descriptions in the book. I would definitely recommend this book to others. I would say it is an easy read but I think that it was meant to be that way so people can understand it and relate to it because after all it is a true store. So I think this book is truly for anybody looking for read but I would just tell future readers to grab tissues and be ready for an emotional roller coaster!I read the book A Child Called It and I really loved it. After reading the book From Baghdad With Love I learned that it is very important to save what you love and always keep it close, whether it is your family, friends, or something else. Because it was based in a war ridden environment, the scenes were constantly changing and very exciting. From playing with the puppy, Lava, to protecting Lava from the war zone, the author never wrote about anything boring. It was definitely an inspirational book because it really shows just how important it is to appreciate what you have and protect it. This was my first book choice, but is was one of the best books i have read this year.

I really liked Friday Night Lights. It tells a good story about the players and the trials they face and I can really relate to it. The fact that I like football may make me a little biased but I would definitely recommend it to someone else. I like this book more than Outliers because it tells a moving story while outliers tells mostly odd statistics.
