President Obama seems to have contradicting points throughout the speech. He tells us that he feels that such matters as this should not solely be in the hands of the president but be taken up in Congress as well. Then he points out how some Congress members disagree with his plan of action and implies they are "wrong", defeating the purpose of taking the matter up in Congress. The President also uses the pronouns "I" and "me" more than "we" or "us", leading the audience to believe that this issue pertains more to him than the fate and well-being of our country.

President Obama is a great public speaker, but in this speech his thoughts and ideas were not well played out. He contradicts himself constantly throughout the entire announcement; one moment he thinks the United States should get involved and another moment he says we should stand back and let others deal with it. Obama says he should take into account what the congress thinks but throughout his speech he constantly uses "I" indicating zero unification as a country. He's making his approach all about his ideas and his thoughts instead of the countries thoughts as a whole.

I believe the speech was well presented and it kept my attention. President Obama begins with informing the country of what happened in Syria and states that he wanted to make a military threat. There is good use of logos and pathos throughout the speech. After the President states his opinion on attacking Syria, he says he was postponing the vote on a decision to attack, which was confusing to me because he previously talked about his opinion on making a military attack. The President also talks about getting opinions of other country's which, in my opinion, should not be necessary.

President Obama starts the speech with a very gruesome description of the massacre that occurred in Syria. This use of pathos hooks the reader by making them sympathize the victims in Syria. This hook also makes the reader less reluctant to listen to President Obama talk about necessary military actions. In addition to making readers feel bad for the innocent people who suffered, the President made the attack personal by calling it "A violation to our security".I noticed that he started the speech using primarily words referring to the U.S. as a whole, then talked about how he would solve the problems, using words like "I" and "me". To conclude his speech he again used words like "we" and "our" in order make us want to help.

I believe that Obama did a well job with presenting his speech. He gave a good outlook and explanation on exactly what's going on with the situation in Syria. For those people who maybe didn't know anything about what was going on, could now understand a little better. I also think that President Obama is a strong speaker.

The speech was kind of confusing since the president started off saying that we tried to help but are resisting calls for military action because we cannot resolve someone else’s civil war through force. He says this but they toward the middle and end he pushes more for the force of military.
