I chose the book freakonomics because i've heard many people in this class talk about it and how good it is and I thought i'd give it try. Steven Levitt is qualified because he is an economists. Stephen Dubner is qualified because he is a journalist who has written three other books.

I choose I Beat the Odds, by Michael Oher with Don Yaegar because I am a pretty big sports fan and I love sports stories. Also after watching the movie, and already somewhat knowing his story, it will be an easier read. The author is qualified to write this because he actually went through everything, and its his own personal story.

I choose to read Dreams New Dreams by Jai Pausch because I really enjoyed reading The Last Lecture and this book is about her life after her husbands death who is the author of the The Last Lecture. Jai is qualified to write about this topic because she was by her husbands side throughout his book and until the end of his life. This also gives her a chance to speak her mind about her life after his death.

I chose the book A Mighty Long Way because in elementary school I saw a movie about a young African American girl attending an all white school for the first time. Something about this movie impacted and has stayed with me ever since. So when I found this book, which is along the same lines, it definitely interested me. I am super excited to start reading!

I chose the book "Dream New Dreams" by Jai Pausch because I have read her husbands book "The Last Lecture" and I think it will be interesting to see things from her perspective on her husbands cancer and his choice to do a last lecture. I'm interested in finding out if she moved on since her husbands death, and if so was it a difficult task. Pausch has the qualifications for writing this book due to the fact its kind of a follow up to "The Last Lecture" which was written by her husband. She has all the first hand experience.

I chose the book I beat the odds by Michael Oher, written by Don Yaeger, I chose this book because I have seen the movie and it was extremely inspirational and made hungry for the rest of the story and learning about all of the struggles that Michael faced and overcame gives me a sense of motivation. The authors qualifications are simply, that the author lived the story and real life and has obvious insight to the struggles and accomplishments he went through over the years.

I chose the book "A MIghty Long Way" because being half black, I love to learn about the challenges, and obstacles blacks had to go through back in the day to get freedom & equality. This book goes through the struggle of 9 black students trying to get equal education as whites. The authors qualifications for writing this book are that Carlotta Lanier (author) was the president of the group of 9 students, and she states the factual story of what she and 8 other kids went through just to get equality, and a fair education.

The reason I chose to read Into the Wild is that Ryan Ellison said it was a phenomenal novel, so I chose to take his word for it. The subject is very interesting, and I can't wait to get started. Jon Krakauer is qualified to write this novel because he is an editor of the Modern Library Exploration series, and has written other novels about tragedies such as the death of Christopher McCandless.

I chose the book A Mighty Long Way by Carlotta Walls LaNier because this book is dated back in the 1940's/1950's and I am always appealed to older setting novels. This book is about over coming struggles and becoming a better individual which is what I can relate to. Carlotta Walls LaNier is qualified to write a book such as this because she was the youngest of a group of African-American students who were the first colored students to attend, in 1957, Little Rock Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas where the story is placed.

I choose the book "Start something that matter" by Blake Mycoskie. I choose this book because it is labeled as a number one New York times bestseller. This book is inspirational as it tells the story of two guys starting from nothing and growing into a huge company. It proves to everyone that everything is possible and you should never give up.

I chose this book because it seemed interesting to learn about how fast food is really made, and the book seemed like one of the only interesting topics. The author's qualifications to write this book because he is an award winning author, and he has conducted extensive research regarding the production and creation of products in the fast food industry.

I chose this book because of my interest in the Mount St Helen eruption and that if someone was on the mountain as it detonated, I want to hear about that experience. The authors qualifications to write about it are that he was an primary source to the event.

I decided to read Quiet by Susan Cain because I really enjoy reading about thing that apply to me. I've been an introvert my entire life and people have always said its not good to be introverted, and to read about something that finally expresses my opinion about this topic just makes me feel better about myself. Cain in the author's note before the book says she has been working on the book officially since 2005 and unofficially her entire life. the very first anecdote told of an introvert's success was of her own. She has traveled and compiled information from many different areas about many different people in order to show that introverts are the building block of our society.

I chose to read Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer. I chose this book because it did not look like a narrative/essay book, it seemed like it had more adventure and plot than a normal nonfiction book. Jon Krakauer is qualified to write this book because he spent more than a year tracking down the story, and did his research to find everything he could find about the man who went into the wild.

I chose "Into The Wild" by Jon Krakauer because I saw the movie back in 2007 and it really stuck with me. I find the story very enlightening and thought provoking. Krakauer has written numerous nonfiction novels in the same vein as "Into the Wild". He is also the editor of the Modern Library Exploration series.

I chose Quiet:The Power of Introverts in a world that can't stop talking due to a recommendation from a friend. Also I am introverted and would like to explore that side of my nature. Susan Cain has a large amount of experience in the world of extroverts with her previous professions being law and business negotiation.
